Today, modern data environments are distributed and include remote and branch offices, mobile devices, and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as cloud solutions. There is more critical data to back up than ever before, as well as new privacy and security compliances. Enterprises are reexamining on-premises data protection, which has not kept pace with this new reality.\r\n
Consider that 45% of IT managers said they had lost data or productivity related to data protection inefficiency within the previous year. Meanwhile, nearly half of organizations said they still rely on tape as their primary form of direct backup. Additionally, only 70 percent of on-premises data protection backup jobs are completed on time.\r\n
A growing number of businesses are thinking about moving data protection to the cloud, which is cost-effective, easier to manage, flexible, and more reliable. Just a couple of years ago, the public cloud was considered too dangerous and unreliable for storing sensitive company data. Today, it is seen as a critical aspect of data protection.\r\n

Nearly every department in every major organization today has a purpose for big data, and yet it all comes down to IT to ensure that all potential data is collected, secure, accurate, and accessible for business users. This process is easier said than done, as there are often a myriad of challenges that prohibit IT leaders from ensuring a successful process for big data.\r\n
In a March 2019 survey by Enterprise Digitalization, 52% of respondents identified inaccurate or inconsistent data as the leading big data IT challenge. Another 26% are challenged by an inability to efficiently convert data into analytics-ready datasets. Finally, 22% identified siloed data as the biggest obstacle.\r\n
Although there are numerous solutions — including data cleansing and visualization tools —that can be leveraged to prevail against these big data challenges, IT leaders must collaborate across the enterprise to ensure that the business is finding value in the data.\r\n
“IT leaders need to ensure that the capabilities they build are aligned with strategic business initiatives,” said Julius Bogdan, director of analytics and data innovation at SCL Health. “They need to work hand in hand with the business to deliver the outcomes that the business is looking for, not just what the platform can deliver. That means that IT leaders need to track and explain the ROI for their solutions, and what key business initiatives those are advancing.”\r\n
Simply put, the pressure is on for IT leaders to help their enterprises succeed during the age of big data. If these challenges are left unchecked, it could jeopardize an enterprise’s big data aspirations.\r\n

Although AI is delivering returns for early adopters, most enterprises have not leveraged this solution yet. A 2019 poll found that 61% of companies are either not prepared or will never be prepared for AI. Many technology and business professionals fear that they are falling behind more agile and automated competitors. Common challenges for AI adoption include hiring the right talent for the technology, pressure from c-level to change, and lingering cultural hang-ups.\r\n
Beyond the organizational challenges, the success or failure of AI implementation rests with data. Failure to conduct proper data management is what sometimes holds an organization back from their AI dreams. Throw in the regulatory uncertainty with the technology, and some enterprises need guidance to overcame these problems and realize the benefits of AI.\r\n
