Social media is more than just engaging with your current followers. It’s a great way to gain new consumers and not just build brand awareness. However, many marketers gear their social strategy to their current consumers and followers and don’t think outside the box to gain new consumers. When consumers are researching a brand, they often explore the brand’s social media accounts. This means your social channels need to be set up properly to gain new consumers. Additionally, there are strategies that marketers can implement that puts their social media channels in front of new potential consumers. Social media is a huge opportunity to gain new consumers, so your social media channels need to have posts that appeal to first time buyers as well as your current consumers. Lastly, there are ways you can partner with your current consumers or social media stars to promote your brand through their own channels gaining new eyeballs on your brand. Found a great high-profile influencer? Invite them to take over one of your social media channels for a day. Consumers like to see brand accolades and reviews and testimonials from people who are just like them who experienced your brand. Work with your client services team to gather reviews and testimonials and share them on social. When a new potential consumer is perusing your social media channels, they’ll love to see the reviews and testimonials on your channels and be more apt to purchase.

Thought leaders with large social followings are great to interview on your social media channels. Their followers will tune into the interview, growing a lot of attention on your brand. Twitter is a great place to interview thought leaders because consumers can follow the interview with the hashtag. Then, the hashtag could trend and get a lot of new people tuning in on the interview which is great for brand exposure. 

There are many ways to gain new customers through social media strategies. But the main takeaway here is that finding ways to enlist other people like consumers, influencers and thought leaders is a great way to increase sales on social media since people like to hear about brands from their peers.
